Gina Southgate, best known for painting/performing on the jazz and free improv circuits, has brought together a group of artists/musicians whose work and its ‘product’ relates to the diversity of approach that exists within jazz. The exhibition will comprise of paintings, drawings, posters, cover art, graphics and ephemera that glimpses at the music’s broad subgenres. With contributions from Andy Sheppard of Lowlightphoto Swifty and Paul Bradshaw, Treader label and Ashley Wales.
The exhibition will be augmented by a thrilling launch night of music from a selection of the scene’s most potent players accompanied by pertinent live visuals melded together with classics from the decks. There will be record stalls, merchandise and related stuff to make for a festival atmosphere.
John Coxon and Mark Sanders will provide an instantaneous and responsive soundtrack to Ashley Wales films
Black Top – Vibes master Orphy Robinson and pianist Pat Thomas perform with legendary vocalist Maggie Nicols –visuals from Swifty and Brad.
Powerhouse duo of saxophonist Alan Wilkinson and drummer Chris Corsano with live visual from Gina Southgate.
Spaceheads – Andy Diagram trumpet and Richard Harrison drums with live mixed projections by Jaime Rory Lucy‘s Rucksack Cinema to add to the glorious spectacle.
