About the Flimflam club

Flimflam is a club night which since its inception in January 2001 has played an integral role in the promotion of London’s burgeoning and fertile improvised and experimental music scenes. Taking place on the last two  Wednesdays of each month in the cosy downstairs venue at Ryan’s Bar on Stoke Newington Church Street, it was founded and is sustained by improvising saxophonist Alan Wilkinson, who usually plays in one of the four acts over the two nights.

The music is always excellent featuring some of the best forward-looking musicians from Britain and elsewhere. The list of who has played at Flimflam would be huge,  and provides a vital platform for exploration in an increasingly difficult environment fuelled by money and marketability. Vetting is purely on the basis of compatibility with these intentions and interested performers should approach Alan directly on the contact page.
